Project Description

Focused on inclusivity in urban recreational sports, this device uses algorithmic and machine learning data to create an adapted skateboarding experience for the user. Using a depth camera and tracking technology, a haptic map is sent to the users specialized glove to provide information on the size of objects around them at the skate park. This aids in the understanding of their surroundings when skateboarding with a visual impairment. The capture of dynamic sensations produced in the glove creates the sensation of feeling the terrain and can warn the user of real-time changes up to 3.5m in front of them.
