Company background

Joseph Joseph are recognised as market leaders in contemporary housewares. Since 2003, products such as Chop2Pot, Index, Nest and Elevate have helped establish the company as one of the fastest growing companies in the worldwide homewares market.

Joseph Joseph brand purpose

We identify everyday problems and solve them through intelligent design to create distinctive, useful products that are a pleasure to own and use.

What makes a Joseph Joseph product?
Our aim is to create products that always offer a functional improvement over their rivals, and a genuine point of difference. This unique selling point is crucial in every product we launch, and combined with a purely functional aesthetic to create desirable products which people want to interact with and own.

The Brief – The Great Outdoors

Joseph Joseph would like you to design four products to launch a range of Camping Equipment. These products could be from any part of the user journey but should work together to offer solutions to problems.

Key Considerations
• Understand the Joseph Joseph brand. This is the most important consideration, our products are
function lead and the USP should be the first thing that’s noticed.
• These products should be for a family trip away, think home away from home and how does that
impact the products designed.
• Function First – What is the benefit to a customer of this product over the competitor.
• Why wasn’t it like this before! Our best products take a simple insight and turn it into a moment
of delight.

Deliverables
• Research and insights clearly highlighting the key problems identified and summarised in a
concisely worded statement.
• Detailed Sketches outlining a variety of different solutions with a hero page to explain your
concepts and final designs.
• Cardboard Sketch Models of each design where applicable.
• Presentation slides of the concepts with concept names for each project
